I am a radio engineer for three stations. My days are usually full of fixing computers or trying to figure out what someone has done to mess one up. Once in a while I actually get to work on something transmitter related but a lot of the time I work on computers and do a lot of programming in PHP, Flash, MySQL and VB with a little machine language and C++.
I love my job because I never get bored. There is never a lack of things to do and if I want I can do something different every day. One day I might be toiling away at a program and the next I might be cleaning out gutters at the transmitter. As my partner and other engineer says, ‘The only reason we don’t work on submarines is because we don’t own one.’
My only real hobby is cooking. That is why I got so down when I quit. Now that I am putting my videos up on the web page I am having fun with my hobby again and I am learning a new one, video production, (though as is seen by the videos I cook a lot better than produce).
